Favorite Things Thursday – Pilot Precise RT Pens

Fascinations, Paper & Pen

I’m kicking off a new blog series today. On Thursdays (most weeks), I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things.

Today’s favorite thing is my favorite disposable pen. I have my sister to thank for introducing me to these several months ago. She bought my first pack of Pilot Precise RT pens, and I have been hooked ever since.

20131008-205126These pens come in .5 and .7 versions (v5 and v7). They are rollerballs which means they write very smoothly. I enjoy writing with both versions, and I use one or the other almost daily.

What are your favorite pens?

  1. For non-disposable, non-fountain pen, have you ever tried a Retro 1951 Tornado? I think of these as “business casual” pens. Nice enough to say “nice pen,” without being stuffy (like a Mont Blanc) or generic (like the Cross Century ballpoint ever man is issued upon high school graduation). They come in fun colors, and have a good feel to them. They can take either capless rollerball or Parker ballpoint refills.

Given their price point ($25-35 for the basic models), and the fun-but-functional nature, they make great gift for graduation, bar/bat mitzvah, “farewell coworker,” or other occasion. It’s a go-to for us when we need something for an acquaintance, but not sure what.

    1. I have a tornado that I really like, but I haven’t had good luck with the refills for them. They don’t seem to write as well, but maybe it’s just a fluke.

  2. Oh, I will have to check those out! I love Pilot pens… but haven’t used those! My current “go to” pen is the Sharpie Pen. Love love love it. It’s superfine and never “globs up.” :)

  3. The Retro Tornado is a great pen! It would also make a great gift and I haven’t thought about that. My favorite disposable pen is the Uni Ball signo .5 in blue. I have picked up others and this seems to be my go to.

    1. They would make great gifts! I may be the only person who doesn’t like the Signos. They write great, but something about the tip of them bothers me. I think I’m just too picky!

  4. These are my favorites too!!! I also recently tried the JetStream and it’s pretty nice too, but I’m definitely a Pilot girl as I live the extra fine point on them. I’m glad I’m not the only one!
