A day with Aubree

It’s safe to say there is only one Aubree. Blond hair and sweet smile. She has a mind of her own for sure, but she also has a loving heart. Full of energy, imagination, and ideas.

Last Saturday, I went to my grandparents’ house. Aubree had spent Friday night with them. On Saturday, they had a lot going on. Since I live so close to my aunt, uncle, and cousin, I offered to drive her home to save her mom a trip. We turned it into a day of fun instead of going home right away.

First, we colored.

Next, we had a “picnic and storytime.” We read the Dr. Seuss book I Can Read with My Eyes shut.

She informed me that Dr. Seuss’ birthday is coming up, and that to celebrate we would make Cat in the Hat hats and perform a play. It reminded me of the countless times I played “school” as a kid. She taught me how to make the hats. This was her creation:

After our play, we settled down on the couch and watched some Disney Channel. She played some games on my phone, and I let her sew some pieces of fabric together. She asked to go to McDonalds, and I just couldn’t say no. My Uncle Nickie came with us to lunch. Soon it was time to take her back home. On the way we stopped at The Dollar Tree and Walmart to look for a small treat.

She was so well behaved all day. It was nice to have a little sidekick for the day! Having young cousins is fun. I hope to have more special days with all the cute little ones in my life soon!
