Fabric Friday – 2013 Wish List

2012 was the year I bought way too much fabric. Hopefully 2013 will be the year of using up my stash. I don’t plan to buy much fabric this year, but there are a few collections coming out that I’m excited about! This year I want to focus on buying half yards and yards of a few favorite prints instead of a bunch of fat quarters and precuts like when I was first starting my stash.

This is my fabric wish list for this year.

1. Spring House by Stephanie Ryan for Moda

I saw this and knew if I only bought fabric from one collection all year, it would be this one. It’s so pretty!

Fabric Friday – Summer Selections & A Possible Link Up!

Sometimes I think things are fun that other people do not. So, if this doesn’t sound fun to you, please don’t feel bad. It’s not you…it’s me. I thought it might be fun to start hosting a weekly or bi-weekly link-up on Love You Muches. It’ll be called Fabric Friday, and you can write posts featuring favorite fabrics or showing off a diy that involves fabric and link to them from here. Link ups are my favorite way to find new blogs to read on certain topics. Please let me know if you’d be interested in Linking Up with Love You Muches!

It’s been a hot week in Alabama, so I wanted to share some of my favorite summery fabrics.

1. Lily Ashbury – Summer House.

Vibrant and on the verge of being neon. This fabric is so much fun.

2. Little Yellow Bicycle – Vintage Summer

This is the fabric that made me fall in love with red, white, and blue.

3. October Afternoon for Riley Blake – Seaside

I stalked this collection online until it finally came out. It’s probably my favorite fabric line I’ve bought yet.

Which of these do you like best?

Which means I participated in my first ever fabric swap. I have a charm square obsession, and I knew I could easily cut charm squares without stressing. It was the perfect swap to join. Thanks Stephanie from Hope Sewing is Genetic for hosting the Matchy Matchy Polka Dot Swap. I was assigned the color purple to purchase a yard of dottie fabric in and a yard of a coordinating Kona solid. Participating was a good way to get a wide variety of fabric without spending a fortune. Now I have squares of dots and solids in every color of the rainbow waiting to be used. What should I make out of these?

Fabric Friday – Stash Edition Part 1

For today’s Fabric Friday, I thought I’d share some choices from my stash. I’ve been on a fabric buying spree lately, but now it’s time to make things out of all this gorgeous fabric. My stash isn’t nearly as extensive as a lot of people’s stash, but it’s nice to have fun choices when inspiration strikes! As always, I have no affiliation with any designers, manufacturers, or retailers.

1. Flea Market Fancy Legacy by Denyse Shmidt

I ordered this because it was on sale, and I was vaguely familiar with it. After I placed the order, I started hearing about FMF everywhere. Apparently it’s a big deal in the quilting world. Everyone loves this fabric! I’m starting to see why.

2. Riley Blake

This set is another sale item. I see a sweet girly quilt in its future.

3. Aqua, Red, and White

I bought the aqua fabrics at a LQS and the white from JoAnns. I actually bought the white for something else, but it didn’t work out for what I was intending it for. I love this fabric. Whatever quilt I make out of it will definitley be staying with me!

What are your favorite fabrics from your stash?

Summer Stitches Craft & Quilt Along

I’ve been a little MIA over the past few days. I can’t think of a better post to come back with than this. It’s something I’m really thrilled to get started on! Love You Muches is hosting a Craft and Quilt Along! The main goal of this event is to encourage one another to work on at least one crafty project during the summer. We will share our goals, projects, ideas, advice, and inspiration. I love the idea of having a community of creative people to learn from and work with. It should be a fun few months around here! All the details are listed below. I really hope you join us! I sent a message out to people I thought might be interested, and, at last count, we have 19 people who are interested in participating. You can be next!

Summer Stitches

Who: Anyone who wants to create something. Quilters, Sewers, Painters, Crafters, Knitters, etc.! All are welcome.

What: A group of people who all share a love for being creative. The purpose of Summer Stitches is to choose a project or a goal to work towards this summer. If you’re anything like me, you have good intentions and the desire to make things, but they don’t always happen due to the events of life. With Summer Stitches, we can commit to bringing just a little creativity to our summer!

Where: Love You Muches blog and a Facebook group to be created at later date

When: June 1- August 31, 2011

Why: because it’s going to be fabulous! Plus, we can all use a little encouragement sometimes.

How: Leave a comment, send me an email (loveyoumuches@gmail.com), or send me a Facebook message telling me that you are participating. Also, tell me what your project will be on or by June 8. That way, we can have a list of what people will be working on during this time.

Rules: They’re simple:

1. No Stress – Life gets busy. We aren’t trying to complete things in 3 months (it’s great if we do!). We are just committed to getting started.

2. Tell us what you’ll be working on. How much you share is up to you, but please at least tell us your project.

I can’t wait to get started. I already have my project in mind. I’ll share more when we officially begin, but here’s a little sneak peak of the fabric I’ll be using.

Hope you join us! If you have any ideas or suggestions, please share.

Love You Muches Originals

Tomorrow, I’m linking up to Kelly’s Korner for Show Us Your Life Fridays. The topic this week is “Show Us What You Make or Sell”.

Quilting has become my favorite way to spend my free time. My goal is to start selling quilts to help fund our adoption. I grew up watching my grandmother make quilts, and the quilts she has made me have become some of my most treasured possessions. I love giving quilts as gifts. It makes me feel like I’m giving something special that can be enjoyed for years. I also love the creative side of putting together different patterns and fabrics to create something unique.

Since I’m just getting started, I thought I’d share some photos of what I’ve made so far and what I’m working on now.

In progress . This is going to be a super soft baby blanket!

This is a completed queen size quilt top that is ready to be quilted.

This baby quilt is now quilted. I just have to do the binding now! I can't wait to show y'all the finished product. I love this quilt!

Completed baby quilt.

I'm piecing this one now.

I set up a Facebook Fan page for this blog and my quilts. You can find it here. I will be posting all my completed quilts on Love You Muches Originals, so be sure to check it out if you are interested in a quilt!

April 20th Edition of Fabric Friday!

Because the world could use some more prettiness, I decided it was already time for another Fabric Friday. As always, I have no affiliation with any of these retailers or fabric designers. I’m just a fabric fan girl. Happy Fabric Friday!

1. I ordered this custom fat quarter bundle from Fabricworm last week. It’s even cuter in person!

2. Better Gnomes and Gardens by Heather DuPont. I picked this because I thought the name was fun. I don’t know that I’ll ever buy it. On the other hand, the more I look at it, the more the gnomes grow on me. They’re kinda cute!

3. Indian Summer by Zoe Pearn Designs for Riley Blake. I can see this being a cute quilt on a toddler or little girl’s bed.

4. Garden Remix bundle by Anne Kelle for Robert Kaufman. Adorable!

Fabric Friday

It goes without saying that Fridays are good days and pretty fabric is a good thing. The combination of Fabric and Fridays is unstoppable! In this semi-regular feature, I’ll list some of the fabrics I’ve been drooling over lately. I have no affiliation with any of these retailers or fabric designers. I’m just a fabric fan girl. Happy Fabric Friday!

1. Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille for Moda

Aqua houndstooth. Need I say more? I can see a patchwork made out of a few charm packs.

2. Michael Miller Children At Play Navy on The Go

I have a thing for wagons

3. Fly A Kite by October Afternoon for Riley Blake

I think I love every single Riley Blake collection, but this is my favorite of the moment.

4. From JoAnns

This one is “out there” from my typical choices. If I was making a nice quilt for a queen size bed or a nice throw for a couch, I would probably reach for this one. It seems so fancy and sophisticated. I love the earth tones!

5.  From Hobby Lobby

Sweet little daisies. A tribute to my favorite flower!

Crafty Spring Cleaning

Sometimes I dream of having one of those “Pinterest” craft rooms. The ones with stacks of neatly folded, color-coordinated fabric, a big project table, a sewing machine, and all the ribbon and thread a gal could want. I may not have one of those rooms, but I do have a beautiful room to keep my sewing stuff in. It just needed a little Spring Cleaning.

It all started when I spent the weekend cutting out pieces for all of  the quilts I have planned. I don’t particularly enjoy cutting fabric, so I decided to do it all at once so I won’t have to do it for a while. I now have 11 quilt pieces ready to sew. Anyway, this led to me wanting to get all my sewing things organized. To reach this level of Pinterest like organization, I first had to make a huge mess.

After all the cutting

See? Messy. Eventually, I got all my fabric and sewing things cleaned out of the fainting couch and put back. The result may not be Pinterest perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Everything has a place. I just wonder how long I can keep it this way. I also am borrowing this quilt frame from my mom. I love my little sewing spot!

Have you done any Spring Cleaning this year?
