Our lives are made up of thousands of little pieces. All the pieces fit together to form the big picture. Sometimes, the pieces just fall into place. Sometimes, they need a little help along the way.

 I have faith that one day we will adopt a Little Love. Yes, it will be a long time before we are able to adopt. We aren’t eligable to apply until next fall (when we have been married for 3 years). It’s never to early to start saving, though! The months we have before we send in our application will be months of prayer. Prayers for guidance, for our future children, and for us as future parents. Another thing we can do during these months is prepare. To kickstart our preparation, I went out and bought this puzzle.  

The Adoption Puzzle

I have my sister Laura to thank for opening my eyes to the concept of the adoption puzzle. She sent me a text one day about an adoption puzzle fundraiser she saw on the internet. I was very curious and did some googling. A post on the blog Our Adoption Journey taught me everything I needed to know (thanks!).

For $5, you can sponsor a puzzle piece. Your name goes on the back of every piece you sponsor. When the puzzle is complete, we will frame it and hang it in our Little Love’s room! He/she will be able to see all the special people who helped him/her come home to us. This is something that doesn’t have to be completed right away. We have months, possibly years to work on it, but it feels great to have a plan of action (even a small one).

The first two pieces. No, we aren’t parents, but my heart leaps to see these titles written out. They are hopes for the future!

Money is such an awkward subject to me. I am not comfortable with fundraising or asking. Yet, adoption is expensive. Our goal is to finance our adoption through saving most of our money and also through the profits from the quilts I make and sell. I just couldn’t let go of this idea, though. I think it will be so neat for our future child(ren) to see how many people love and support our family.
