Rain, rain, rain. Our weather was so strange this year for the holiday. It rained literally all day. On July 4 in Alabama, I had to text my sister and ask her to bring me a sweatshirt because I was actually cool. We made the most of it, and had a pretty good holiday weekend anyway!
On Thursday morning, M and I woke up bright (not really because it was still dark out) and early at 4:30. The guys were going fishing, and I decided to go ahead and ride to the river with them. While M, Wes, and Dad fished in the (sometimes pouring) rain, I hung out with my grandparents. Papa, Ree, and Uncle Nickie took me to Sportsman’s Park for breakfast then we got ready for the rest of the family and friends to come for the afternoon. Grilling was out of the question, but bbq and chili dogs saved the day. The food was delicious anyway!
My cousin Matt and Wes made this firework launcher, and everyone was eager to see their firework show this year!
The kids all played inside, but M brought his cotton candy maker to make a surprise treat for them.
He also exercised his freedom to eat a ton of corn on the cob!
I spent the day huddled up in my sweatshirt and quilting.
It looked like the rain wasn’t going to stop in time for fireworks, but thankfully it did. There were going to be 3 upset kids if it hasn’t! Matt and Wes did a great job on their fireworks show. It was a rainy but good 4th!
Friday, I took off work since M was off. We went to see Despicable Me 2 and then went to my parents’ house for a little bit.
Allison brought the orders from my Scentsy party over Friday night. I was so excited to get all my hostess loot. I still have several bars that will come in this week, too!
Friday was a fun, low key day, but Saturday was even more low key. Like M said, it was nice to have a true Saturday. It was pajamas, quilting, and movie watching all day.
I’m thankful to have holidays and a break from the real world!
How was your holiday weekend?
