Dwelling Place: What’s left?

Our house isn’t even 2 years old yet, and it has come a long way. The tornado damage is repaired, but there are some other projects we want to work on this year.

1. Ask our contractor to come back and fix the trim around the big window in the front.

2. Buy and hang new blinds for the front window

3. Finish setting up M’s “man cave” room

4. Redo the flower beds completely and plant new flowers.

5. Add a new row of sod where one of the flower beds used to be

6. Replace the light by the side door.

7. Put up a privacy fence

8. Buy and hang a swing.

9. Decorate our back porch.

10. Buy and install a doggie door.

11. Paint the front door

12. Water the grass so it’s pretty again like it was pre April 27

13. Install our new kitchen sink & buy new faucets

Seeing it all typed out, I realize there is a lot more to do than I originally thought. I hope we can get it all done this year!

Dwelling Place: Living Room Mantle and Entryway

The picture above was taken right after our house was built. It was before we got married, and only M was living in the house (if you couldn’t tell by all the football stuff). M probably misses his football, but I think the after photos are a huge improvement! This is our fireplace/mantle now:

Our living room is so much warmer now. The paint color here and in all the main living areas in our house is Sherwin Williams Baguette. I love this color! The ceilings are all painted Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. I am much happier with having the tv sitting on a tv stand across the room. To save money on our big wedding photo, I had it printed by an online service and my dad framed it for me in a frame I bought at a local store. The other accessories were all wedding gifts, Hobby Lobby, and Old Time Pottery Finds. The basket of toys under the window of course belongs to Bailey and Charlie!

The bench by our front door is the first thing we bought after closing on the house. The canvas print was a wedding gift from two of our flower girls!

I have had so much fun redecorating our house after the repairs were made. We are blessed to have this place to call home. I’m sure I’ll keep making little changes, but I have a feeling we will enjoy living here for many years! I was honestly worried how I would feel about living here again after the storms. I was scared that I would never get over being scared while living here. I am thankful that this place still feels like home. That tornado couldn’t take away all the happy memories :)
