My mom is extremely creative and talented. A coworker of hers had this dining room buffet table that she no longer wanted. It had a cherry finish. Mom surprised me by redoing it so we could use it as a tv stand in our master bedroom. She refinished it, and I love how it turned out! I love pieces of furniture that are unique and not run of the mill. We have really enjoyed this. Thanks again mom!

Dwelling Place: Office
I’m beyond excited about sharing this room with y’all. This is “my room”. It’s my office, my writing place, my thinking place, my quiet place, and my creating place. This room has “Beth” written all over it. I love how everything turned out. I wanted at least one room in the house with a bright, fun color. It’s painted aqua – which (if you haven’t noticed) is my favorite color. When the right windows finally come in, this room will pretty much be perfect.
Dwelling Place: Dining Area
Other than the wall color and crown molding, our dining area is the same as it was pre-tornado. A lot of love went into the room, and every piece has a story.
The roman shade on the back door were of course made by my grandmother Ree. My Papaw Bud was a carpenter. He made the china cabinet. My dad asked him to make it so he could give it to my mom as a 20th birthday present. Mom and I repainted it, and I bought new knobs for it at Hobby Lobby. This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture!
The table was a Craigslist find. Once again, mom worked her magic and helped me recover the seat cushions. Dad helped us sand off the top of the table and paint it. Being a homeowner on a budget has helped me discover that I really like redoing old furniture. I couldn’t do it at all without help from mom and dad. Having all the support and help from our families is part of what makes our house so special and a wonderful place to call home!
Dwelling Place: Kitchen
Happy sigh. I love having a happy, colorful kitchen to cook in! Since we were having the tornado repairs done anyway, we added a tile backsplash. The whole house also had to be repainted because of all the cracks and nail pops, so the paint color is also different now. The whole room feels cozier. It’s great to be home!
Dwelling Place: Master Bedroom
Update: June 15, 2012 – I am linking up this post on Kelly’s Korner today. I am still in love with our bedroom! It was the first room we finished after we moved back in our house after the tornado damage was repaired. It became a little sanctuary during the stress of those days!
Milestone! We have one room in the house pretty much back to normal. I just love our master bedroom. I sent M and my mom to get paint and floor samples one day. When I got home from work, they had picked out this wall color and this floor. I agreed. They did good!
