Summer Stitches: Update!

I can’t tell y’all how happy it makes me that so many people have embraced Summer Stitches. We have a pretty active Facebook Group, and people are already making some amazing things. I tell M all the time that y’all are putting me to shame! Some people have already done one or two projects! We’ve even had a request to make this a year round craft group!. If you haven’t joined us yet, you can join us here.

What have you been working on this summer? Do you have any suggestions for a name for year round crafting group?

(Here’s another shameless plug asking you to like Love You Muches on facebook if you haven’t already. You can also follow me on twitter at @Bethp146. I love hearing from you!)

Summer Stitches: Go Time!

Yay! It’s June 1, which means it’s time to start our Summer Stitches craft & quilt along. I want to say a huge THANK YOU to those who have shown interest. It’s not too late to join us, either! I can’t wait to see what y’all create. There will be several updates about Summer Stitches in the coming weeks.

For now, it’s time to start sewing, gluing, painting, pasting, and crafting to our hearts’ content. Have a fun and creative few months. – Beth

3 Things Thursday – A “Housekeeping” Type of Post

1. This blog isn’t going to turn into a “sewing” or “quilting” blog, even though the next two things might make it seem that way. I have too many random things to talk about to only have one focus! I am blessed to have so many opportunities to practice my love of quilting right now, so you will probably see some crafty posts mingled in now and then!

2. To help me keep track, I added two new pages to the blog. One is for a list of projects I’ve currently working on. The other is to keep track of completed projects.

3. Tomorrow is the first day of Summer Stitches! I can’t wait to get started. Please let me that you are participating if you haven’t told me already. It should be fun!

Finding Your Creative

The Summer Stitches Craft & Quilt Along hasn’t started yet, and I’m already loving the experience. People are sharing their goals and their projects already, and each time someone posts in the Facebook group, I get excited and rush to read their posts. All of this crafty goodness has made the topic of creativity take over a large part of my brain.

Why do I want to make things? Why am I so drawn to the handmade and quilts in particular? When I first started thinking about this, a bunch of different words popped in my head.

  • Love
  • Story telling
  • Imagination
  • History
  • Tradition
  • Color
  • Dreams
  • Texture
  • Pattern
  • Fabric
  • Warmth

It all boils down to this – I want to share a piece of myself with others. So I keep on stitching and smiling!

Do you have the need to be creative?
